Amazon has sent down a Kindle firmware update!

I was working on my MacBook Pro furiously trying to get some work done, and I glance over to my Kindle 2 sitting next to me. It was telling me that it was downloading an update!

Kindle 2 Downloading an Update

Obviously excited, I took a few pictures of it on my iPhone.

I don’t have the details at this very moment, but it doesn’t appear that much has changed. You still can not organize your content into folders, there is no way to annotate sample content, and Text-to-Speech seems to still be there for the most part. I’m guessing this update contains the bits necessary for improved syncing to other Whispernet devices (such as the iPhone), and allowing publishers to disable Text-to-Speech if they desire to.

UPDATE:

The new firmware is version 2.0.1 (303870012).

UPDATE 2:

Amazon has a page detailing Kindle firmware updates. They mention that 2.0.1 is the latest firmware, but does not illuminate what the changes are.
